Valérie Locatelli was born in Charleroi in 1974.

She is one of the few artists to have a studio at the Rouge Cloître site in Auderghem, Brussels.

Valérie Locatelli's artistic career is rich and eclectic: she earned a bachelor's degree in Art History at ULB (University of Brussels), then worked as a wigmaker and stage makeup artist for film, opera, theater, and dance. She then worked for over 20 years at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, the Théâtre Royal du Parc, and the Théâtre National.

Her visual work ranges from watercolor and charcoal to engraving, pastel, ink, ecoline, and simple pencil.

Each technique becomes a language, "a way of expressing the intimate."

Valérie has always drawn. Self-taught, she explores, researches, and composes according to her desires. She focuses on portraits, whether human or anthropomorphic. Her works express both the twists and turns of introspection and the fantasies of childhood.
